Stockton CA, Birth home of the Fantastic 4!

I live in the city of Stockton. It was the runner-up for the state capital. It is a very large city that has the advantage of being the home to the largest inland seaport in California. The Port of Stockton is the easternmost inland seaport in California. It is also the 13th largest city and the 64th largest city in the United States. Stockton is definitely an individual.  It’s a town so rich in history that the downtown area has landmarks around every corner. Three-times named an All-America City: 1999, 2004, 2015, I think Stockton is a very masculine city.

The city of Stockton has always been known for a city that needs help. Stan Lee, the creator of Marvel Comics, named it the official birthplace of the fantastic four. According to Lee he wanted to draw positive attention to the town he was living in, and call attention to comics. Overall the city is full of culture and people with different religious beliefs.

Fashion Construction

Looking back on the semester, my fashion construction class held many challenges! Yet many great accomplishments!

Getting to know the different types of “feet” for the sewing machines was challenging. There is just so many and they look so different depending on the model of your sewing machine. I had to do a few hours of research to figure out the differences between them.I found the zipper closures challenging! Maintaining a perfect straight line is not as easy as it looks when working with zippers.61OAkMBR2tL._SL1001_

I found the challenge of the whole class fun and exciting! I had fun learning how to draft my own patterns and learning how to modify them to create different looks. This part of the class was amazing to me! It made me appreciate manufactured patterns a lot more

I am really surprised on how much I learned in the class and how my sewing skills advance with the continuos persistence of sewing everyday! It was difficult at times but very fun and I truly enjoyed the challenge!

Convertible Collar Blouse

I am currently working on my Master of Fine Arts Degree in Fashion Merchandising at the Academy of Arts University. I love it! This semester I have been working on my garment constructing skills.

My favorite garment that I have constructed so far is the Convertible Collar blouse. I love the puff sleeves! They look cute and add versatility to the shirt. I also love the yoke and the convertible collar. I like the collar because it adds versatility to the shirt and the yoke adds a classy clean look to the shirt. Its just my favorite!

The convertible collar can be worn buttoned up all the way to the top and it changes the whole look and feel of the shirt. [sociallocker][/sociallocker]

Have you constructed any garments this year?

LA Acting at it’s Best!

I had the pleasure of interviewing professional Actor, from Stockton California the great Daniel Franco. This is the second part of our fabulous interview, enjoy!

Why do you think so many aspiring actors end up giving up on their dream?
A. I think a big part of it is that no one realizes how hard and how much work it is to be a great actor. The best thing I have been told since I have been here is this. “If there is something else that you would rather do or would be happy doing go and do it. If this is what you truly want and would not be happy doing anything else you are cursed. It is great you found the thing that you want to do more then anything but it is not easy.” Another part people give up because of would be rejection. Mark Ruffalo was rejected 600 times before he got a role. I don’t think people these days can handle that much rejection without quitting. It’s an interesting dichotomy you have to play with. You have to be resilient and not take rejections personally but when filming you have to take everything personally.

Q. What are something’s actors do to maintain relax in an audition?
A. Everyone has his or her own thing so it’s different from person to person. For me whenever I go into an audition I tell my self three things. 1st You don’t have the job so don’t worry if you don’t get it, you cant lose something you don’t have. 2nd Don’t try to act what you think they want to see; they don’t even know what they want to see. Just be you in the given circumstance. 3rd Take a deep breath and relax, be calm but not casual.

Q. What are you auditioning for next? IMG_1565A. I am always running around
auditioning for everything I think I would like to work on. Most recently I am auditioning for the play Welcome Home Soldier it has been going on for over 25 years. I am also in a feature film called birds without feathers not sure when we should be finished wrapping that one as we are only about 1/3rd of the way done. I am also hoping to get a chance to audition for the Sons Of Anarchy spin off following the Mayan biker gang. Fingers and Toes crossed.

Q. Where do you see yourself in a few years?
A. That’s a hard one to answer I haven’t put much thought into it. I am so focused on living in the present that it never comes up. I would obviously love to be an established and working actor but I don’t worry about it. What ever happens happens, right now I am like a paper in the wind, I don’t know where I might end up but I am enjoying the ride.

It’s always fun to ask this question; if not an actor, what line of work do you think you would be in?
A. I think if it wasn’t for my love of acting constantly pulling me I would have probably stayed in the military and did 20 years. It at one point was a possibility but I just couldn’t suppress this feeling inside me that needed to be out here doing what I love acting.

Thank you for your time Daniel. Any final message to the fans?

I want to be a man who is truthful and who won’t let pride get in the way of my ripping myself open to my partner and saying, ‘Here I am. This is me.’ I feel there’s something powerful when a man reaches a point in his life when he can be completely vulnerable.
