“A picture is worth a thousand words.” Visual images are everywhere we look. The internal mindscape is shaped by imagery advertising. There are various portals through which we’re exposed to media images like, billboards, social media, television, some cars drive around with images advertising their companies. It has been proven over time that as consumers we are more respondent to images. The advertising of images has gone irrational.
The art piece that I created for this topic is a television on canvas. I have painted an outline of an old style television, with several advertisements pressed together on the screen. I gathered the advertisements from educational books, magazines, advertisement flyers, news papers, and even an appointment card from the Veteran Center. This piece relates to mediascapes by showing the mass amount of information that can be taken in, only from images. Images showing on a popular source of media like the television. television is not just a portal for creative programming, but also for many ads, each with its own agenda and desire for influence over how we think, feel, and what we buy.
Which images form this piece attract you most?
